Hong Kong Part 2 - At Victoria's Peak

The Peak Tower
There are a few souvenir shops at this place as well as a few restaurants. There is Bubba Gump, Burger King, Pacific Coffee (the coffee aroma was unbelievable. I'm not a coffee drinker by the way), Gino's Gelato (it was alright but nothing like Ben & Jerry) and etc.

Sky Terrace
I highly recommend the Sky Terrace. The Sky Terrace provided us with a 360 degree of the Hong Kong view. It's almost like a man-made look out point.

The Peak Galleria
For those who must shop wherever they go, there is always the Peak Galleria. There are quite a number of shops in there. But nothing great.

The Roof of Peak Galleria
What attracted me the most in the Peak Galleria wasn't the shops but the roof. It was designed in such a way whereby the whole place is illuminated with sun light. And the glass are tinted so that it wouldn't be too glaring.

The Mountain View from the Peak
Tourists are provided with free usage of the binoculars. We noticed that a lot of tourists were using the binaculars to look into people's apartment (those beige buildings in the background). Maybe the Chinese govertment should re-position the binaculars.

Carter Garden

We exited from exit J2 of the Central MTR and then we turned right into this beautifully landscaped garden.

This picture was taken from Queen's Road. We had to cross this road to get on to Garden Road. From Garden Road we walk all the way up the slope to the Peak Tram Station.

Peak Tram
This was taken at the Peak Tram Station. We bought return tram ride together Sky Terrace pass for HKD48.

Malacca Part 2

Bathroom

Vanity Top

Clawfoot Bathtub

Initially I wondering why the hotel put the bath salt container on a rack which is hung over the bathtub. I sure hotel guests would know the purpose of the bath salt. One the first day I decided to draw myself a bath and relax in it instead of taking a nap. When I was soaking the warm bath water, I decided to read a magazine. It was rather tiring to hold up the magazine. So, I decided to put the rack to test - and it held up the magazine perfectly well. Although I still had to hold the magazine open, the entire weight of the magazine was supported by the rack. I will definitely get one of these when I have a tub installed in my apartment (like its going to ever happen)

Bath Salt

Wondering how on earth you are going to do a No. 2 if you have guests over or if your other half is in the room? Fret not. The bathroom can be closed up by closing the sliding doors. However, the bathroom is made to be very well ventilated. Too well in fact! The sliding doors have got vents from the top to the bottom. You might want to reconsider the No. 2 which you are thinking of if you are not a daily go-er!

This is the best thing about an open plan concept .

Watch tv while taking a bath.

Complimentary Dessert

The only flaw was that the dessert was left in my room uncovered by house keeping after they have turned down the bedcovers. I didnt touch it.

Malacca Part 1

Majestic Hotel
We were driving around looking for the hotel. We didn't expect it to look like this - it resembles an old Chinese mansion. To crudely put, it looks like an ordinary "rumah tumpangan" (halfway house). The interior is really impressive though. Decorated with Victorian furniture. Kudos to YTL. What impressed me the most were the little bottles of treats for guests - they had asam (salted dried plums), toffee, ordinary dried plum, roasted green beans, peanuts and cookies (those with coloured icing on top). Too bad that I forgot to take a picture of the treats.

The Lift Lobby

Our Room

Impressive isn't it? I didn't expect the room to look so cosy especially when the exterior looked like a halfway house. The room came with a super king four poster bed. The mattress was really soft not at all firm like the one I have at home. However, it was alright as we only spent two nights in Majestic. We were provided with high thread count linen, a 32inch LCD TV, a DVD player. I thought there is a in-house DVD library as not many hotels provide DVD player. I was rather disappointed when I was informed that I have to bring my own DVD collection.

Dressing Table

The lamp shade is rather unique looking. The bottom part reminds me of antique vase from China.

Day Bed

We didn't use the day bed at all except to put our house clothes on it. I supposed lots of guests do their reading on the day bed. Not for me. I prefer to read on the bed. I'm sure the hotel is giving 4 pillows for a reason!

Singapore Part 4

Salivating Chicken
Our friend took us to T-One Sichuan Restaurant in Tiong Bahru for dinner.
Assorted Condiments.
Patrons are supposed to mix the different condiments together to create a sauce to their liking. Meat and etc which have been cooked in the steamboat are to be dipped into the sauce before consumption.

Spicy Sichuan and Herbal Soup

The amount of red chillies and the colour of the soup do not in any indicate the level of spiciness until you have tried the soup. The spiciness is beyond my ability to describe nor swallow.

Beef Slices

Liver
Don't ask me from which animal the liver came from. Honestly, I'm really clueless. I'm not an innards fan at all. My friend and my dad said it was really yummy.

Golden Needle Mushrooms

Pork Balls

Ben & Jerry's in Dempsey Hill, Singapore
Our friend then drove us to this place called Dempsey Hill for dessert. Dempsey Hill is formerly known as the British army barracks and the old CMPB national service enlistment centre. The place is really exclusive. I like the ambience and most of the dining places look like they really have something to offer. I'm sure dinner there will cost a bomb as well.
Chocolate Therapy
It was really good. Hubby is an ardent chocolate lover and he has tried every single brand available in KL and everywhere else he visits. He said Baskin Robbins is the best until he tried this. He said it is better than Baskin Robbins. If I were you, i would take his word for it.

Singapore Part 2

Dinner at Balestier Road

Bak Kut Teh
No worries. I didn't eat any of those innards that they sell.
Pork Ribs
Very tender. The soup is very peppery, like Pig Stomach Soup. Personally, I prefer the soup to have stronger herbal taste.

Beancurd

Braised Chinese Mushrooms
I love mushrooms. And i really liked how they cooked the mushrooms.

Yeow Char Kuey

This is a must whenever I have Bak Kut Teh. Otherwise, the meal is incomplete.
